The sunbutter

If you’ve never heard of sunbutter, you’re life may be changed for good. I have hundreds of clients that endlessly voice how much they miss nut butters. When I tell them about sunbutter, they get a big grin on their face and stock up their pantries.

Sunbutter is a seed butter that is made from sunflower seeds. It’s creamy, smoky, slightly sweet and freaking delicious. It’s on hormone protocols I make for my clients and is a great alternative if you avoid nuts like peanuts or almonds. I love the brand Sunbutter (25% off) because their products are SO clean. Best of all, the organic sunbutter contains one ingredient: sunflower seeds. That’s it. Plus, they are made in a facility that is free of the top 8 allergens.

Reason 37 to have sunbutter in you pantry, it’s extremely versatile. You can bake with it, add it to savory soups, put it in smoothies or eat it with a spoon. Oh yeah.. pups love it too! I order mine right here!

The science

Fish is an amazing source of Omega-3 fatty acids. You know, those acids we need a lot more of in our lives! Unfortunately, we eat too many Omega-6 fatty acids that are inflammatory. Things like corn/soy/canola oil and peanuts. So, we need to focus more on the O3s since they are ANTI-inflammatory and can help lower overall inflammatory burden in the body. Foods like fish, coconut, olive, avocado and nuts/seeds are great sources.

Why “leave the butts on”? Well, carrots retain much more of their nutrients if you cook them with the butts on. I don’t know the literal name but I like butts so…. just hang with me. By doing less work (not cutting) you are getting more nutrients. Sign me up! This allergen friendly peanut sauce is a killer combo for carrots and roasted veggies.

Lastly, this peanut(less) sauce would go well with my One Sheet Salmon Dish, give it a try! Or on top of this stir-fry recipe I came across!

PRO TIP: add olive or avocado oil to make it into a thinner dressing for salad!

After two months of working with Ashlee, we got pregnant. She's kind, diligent and truly invested in my family and health. We tried for over a year to get pregnant with no luck after our first baby. I definitely recommend!

My back pain literally left, my puffy arms toned up and now I'm able to chase my baby boy around. HOLY CRAP, I was hesitant to implement the changes Ashlee always talked about on her Instagram stories (which led me to work 1:1 with her). Thank you Ashlee, from the bottom of my heart.
