How To Create A ‘Stress Busting’ Morning Routine

This guide on how to create a morning routine is sponsored by Collective Bias. You know me babe and all opinions are my own. Thanks for supporting the brands that allow me to give you this free blog post! #BeWellTeaWell #TeaWell #CollectiveBias

If you’ve been wondering how to create a morning routine, I’ve gotchu girl. Morning routines don’t have to be about taking an hour long bath with floating citrus, essential oils and rose petals. I mean, if that’s your jam, do it but if you don’t have time for that, NO WORRIES.

How to Create A Morning Routine with #CollectiveBias #BeWellTeaWell #TeaWell

This is my 5-step stress-busting morning routine that will get you stoked to wakeup tomorrow morning.

How to create a morning routine

1. Keep your phone out of your room (always)

When I work with my clients this is one of the first habits I have them change. Keeping your room a safe, quiet, electronic free zone is one of the best things you can do for your health. Not only does it prevent you from scrolling the night or morning away, it also prevents blue light exposure late at night that can mess with your sleep schedule and hormones!

Put it in a drawer or different room when it’s time for bed and you’ll be set. Make it part of your “going to bed” routine!

2. Take 5-10 deep belly breaths (immediately)

Before your feed hit the floor, wait…. breath in…. and out… in…. and out…. Fill your belly with air as you inhale through your nose and empty it out through your mouth as you exhale. Focus on your breath, count the breathes as they rise and fall (one) until you make it to 5. If you want to go crazy, double it and count to 10!

While you’re here, give thanks. You’re alive, you’re in a place of rest and you’re setting the stage for an amazing day. Whenever my clients ask me how to create a morning routine, this is one of the first things I assign them.

3. Hydrate! Water and tea: the dream team (immediately)

If there’s one point I could emphasize, it would be this one. Drinking healthy fluids is the best thing you can do for detoxing, getting your lymphatic system flowing and having regular poops (so necessary!). Head to the kitchen and turn on the the water kettle. As it warms, drink 8 oz of filtered water and get your TeaWell™ tea bag ready in a mug.

TeaWell is a brand new organic tea that I found at Sprouts. All of the (five) flavors have the Daily Wellness Blend – made up of herbs and botanicals – at the core. These herbs have been use traditionally to support the mind and body which is what we’re all about here at Simplholistic!

4. Move your body, babe (20 minutes after waking)

Movement is a crucial part of any morning routine. When we work out we do much more than just burn calories. We increase muscle mass which helps to lower insulin levels and we get our endorphins going which makes our bodies happy and healthy.

When it comes to the “how to create a morning routine?” question, movement is one of the fabulous 5! Whether it’s yoga, stretching, fast walking or strength training (my favorite), get your body moving for at least 15 minutes. You’ll feel amazing and these gentle workouts aren’t hard on sensitive adrenals/hormones like high intensity cardio.

5. Have a whole foods breakfast (1 hour after waking)

Did you really think you’d get through this routine without me talking about healthy food? I mean… that’s what I do as a Holistic Nutritionist, I teach people how to choose foods that best serves them! Now, starting your day off with a hormone balancing breakfast is key if you want to maintain energy, keep blood sugar levels balanced and feel well throughout your day.

I love to have a Simple 5 Smoothie which is made up of fat + protein + fiber + superfood + greens. Then, liquid of course!

  • 1 tbsp coconut butter
  • organic protein powder
  • 1 cup organic blueberries
  • serving chaga powder
  • scoop of green powder or fresh greens (depending on your digestion)
  • 1 cup of the Organic Ginger Mint Tea

Feeling a little “extra” today? Here are some bonus steps.

6. Start the night before

Write your worries/stressors on a piece of paper. Right after that, write down at least 5 things you are thankful for. Close up the notebook, take step 1 from above (breathing) and look forward to your morning routine! On top of that, have a nightcap with one of these adaptogenic tonics!

7. Be REAL extra go full on spa

Invite some girlfriends over, enlist your daughter/sister and pull out the cucumbers. Get a bath going, pull out the diffuser and wrap that hair up in a hair mask. Go all out girl, you deserve it!

I gave you my exact routine, now it’s your turn!

Head into Sprouts (or find one close to you) and get your morning routine on. I bought the Organic Lemon Chamomile and Organic Ginger Mint. Both of which I love to add homemade almond milk to. When I’m fancy I even froth it! Here’s a buy one get one coupon for you since I love ya.

Pain-free cycles, peaceful pregnancy, healthy clear skin and actually feeling warm were far off dreams for me just 3 years ago. I couldn’t even imagine having a glass of raw milk or enjoying a bowl of garden salsa (it made me bloated just thinking about it!). Worst of all, I was unsure if I’d ever get to start a family. From being passed out on the bathroom floor from the pain of rupturing ovarian cysts to a vibrant and healthy mom.
